Moroes

Moroes Guests

Before even engaging the boss you’ll notice the 4 guests standing nearby Moroes, however the guests are chosen from a pool of potential spawns and therefore may vary somewhat each time you come along to kill him.

They definitely pose a threat to the raid but luckily are quite CC’able as well as each having only one or two significant abilities to watch for/counter to shut them down.

Lady Catriona Von’linda

A major healer and dispels your shackles to boot, annoying, dangerous, etc.  Kill her as soon as possible otherwise you’ll be wasting a lot of extra mana killing those she heals up including Moroes himself.

Baroness Dorothea Milstipe

A shadow priest variant guest, utilizing numerous mind flays and mana burns to present herself as an immense disturbance, possibly doing over 5-6k damage on a single mana burn.  Should you not desire to lose all your mana users kill her immediately.

Lady Keira Berrybuck

A paladin type guest, healing, divine shield, blessing of might and shackle dispel, especially annoying to kill given that she’ll often heal herself up as well as the other guests.  Make sure to dispel the blessings of might she throws out.

Baron Rage Drueger

Somewhat similar to Keira in that he resembles a paladin as well, however unlike her he can’t heal anyone and therefore is particularly weak in comparison.  Making up for this is a rather nasty hammer of justice that he’ll probably throw off the instant he’s un-CCed, preventing another immediate CC.  Just watch your CC timer and keep him locked down for certain lest he break free.

Lord Robin Daris

This guy’s quite annoying but you can avoid all that by simply keeping him under CC throughout the entirety of the fight, killing him takes too long really so it’s the best method.  You should just watch out for his heavy hitter abilities should he break free.

Lord Crispin Ference

A defensive variation of the warrior guest, unlike Robin Daris this guy puts out pitiful DPS and should be exceedingly easy to keep tanked should you be unable to CC him.  Has shield wall, etc.

Moroes

Moroes is the steward of Karazhan, he’s also undead, a rogue, and has an arsenal of really annoying abilities that you’ll be watching out for the entire fight lest he decimate your raid.

Gouge

Gouge will hit the person number one on the threat list, should you be doing well this will be your main-tank.  When gouged the target is stunned until it wears off, no dispels, removals, etc.

When the tank is gouged make sure that your secondary/off-tank is up otherwise Moroes will run wild taking out everyone left on the threat list, this combined with blind can be exceedingly deadly and therefore one strategy employed is to have the tank turn his back should the secondary be blinded, this prevents being gouged.

Blind

Unlike gouge this is targeted at the secondary threat player, hopefully your off-tank, therefore once blinded the target is forced to wander aimlessly until it runs out or is dispelled.  This effect is considered poison and can be removed by paladins, shamans, and druids.

Vanish

Moroes will periodically vanish, turning invisible for a certain amount of time, the gimmick to this is that when he reappears he’ll hit a random member of the raid with his nasty garrote ability; I’ll explain why this is bad below.

Garrote

Garrote is always used on a random person when Moroes exits vanish; afterwards he’ll run back to the main-threat target.  This ability is a bleed-effect attack that deals somewhere around a thousand damage a tick every three seconds for a total of five minutes.

The only methods for removing Garrote are the following: Dwarven Stoneform racial, Divine Shield, Blessing of Protection, and Iceblock.  Due to this I’d have the paladin’s saving up the bubbles for usage on crucial raid members should they get hit.

Otherwise just be satisfied with healing through it, recommended to do so with druid HoT’s, or by dying and using something like a soulstone resurrection to come back.

Enrage

Once Moroes reaches 30% Health he will proceed to enrage, the usual immense increase in attack speed, damage, and thankfully he’ll stop using most of his abilities in favor of beating your tank/s into the ground. Be quick on the healing for this.

Fight

The main decider of whether this fight will be easy or hard is dependant entirely upon how many shackle undead capable casters you happen to have.  This is due to the fact that shackle undead is the supreme method of locking down the guests, otherwise you have to use things such as stuns, frost traps, warlock/hunter pets, and kiting.

You can use the anti-undead fear should you desire but it’s incredibly risky due to the possibility of the feared mob running outside the room and resetting/bugging the entire event
.  Additionally on kiting, it’s best to use frost mages and if needed very good hunters or rogues.

The Shackles

Should you somehow have four shacklers in your raid then you’re set, lock down the guests and enjoy the breeze of a fight, should you happen to somehow lose anyway bragging rights are eternally lost throughout the rest of your raiding experience.

As the number of shackle capable players drops you regularly have to turn up the heat and utilize more strategy, execute tactics perfectly, and so on.

Three shacklers will simply have you burning down the fourth guest before turning to the boss himself, this is also quite easy.

Two shackles is extremely similar, meaning you burn the extras down, however this time you’ll need someone kiting or otherwise delaying/controlling the extra add.

One shackle makes this rather hard, somehow you’ll need to keep two of the adds busy, as mentioned above kiting, traps, stuns, everything possibly useful for such purposes should be utilized.  Also as with all others you burn down all extra guests before moving onto the boss.

Having zero shackles is possibly rarer than having four, honestly I’d wait until I had at least one to try this but it is still quite possible for a great raid team to take down the boss, it’s just going to suck.

The Pull

The main-tank will be pulling this time, moving Moroes into position on one side of the room whilst the raid sets up the guest/CC on the other side, be quick and on target and all should go smoothly.

The Fight

The key to this fight is getting Moroes on his own, meaning you have to do everything in your power to burn down the initial guests before moving onto the boss, this means blowing cooldowns, items, etc.  Just kill them.

Once all your unshackled adds are down this fight becomes quite easy, getting there is probably the turning point of this fight, delay too long or mess up a bit much here and it’s probably already doomed, do well and this should all turn out well.

Moroes

Once you’ve taken down all the adds or shackled them it’s all on Moroes, focus fire and burn him down as quickly as possible otherwise he’ll stack Garrotes on you all day long.  One bug that’s been reported is that should Moroes die while in stealth, meaning killed off by DoT’s, then it’ll bug out the boss.  This results in no kill credit but can still be looted; leaving the instance for apparently thirty minutes respawns the
boss allowing another kill attempt.

Moroes himself is a pretty simple tank n’ spank aside from the gouges and blinds, as mentioned above gouge requires your tank to be facing the boss and therefore can be avoided by turning, this prevents blind and gouge from taking out both tanks at the same time.
