The Stonecore – Heroic Boss Guide

The Stonecore is located within the Temple of Earth, in Deepholm. Once a sacred ground for the denizens of Deepholm, the Stonecore has almost completely fallen under the control of the Twilight Hammer.

Before you start, we have a pre-heroic checklist that you might find of use, especially if you’re not a veteran of the Heroics. It also includes a link to basic DPS, Heal, and Tank tactics. It’s here: Cataclysm Heroic Dungeons.

If you need the gold to pay for repairs, gear, potions, gems, enchants, mounts, 310% flying speed, pets, frivolous vanity gear, etc., then take a look at our gold guide or a far more extensive gold (and more) guide: WoW Crusher.

Corborus:

Corborus from Heroic StonecoreStay out of pink/purple shards.

They explode and deal huge AoE and place a debuff on you that increases your damage taken. AoE the shards down, they’re pretty easy to kill.

When the boss burrows, stay away from dust clouds. The boss will do a dolphin dive and one shot you.

Kill the little rock elementals that spawn, they’re also pretty easy.

How to Corborus

Slabhide:

Slabhide, from Heroic StonecoreAvoid dark shadows on the floor. Spikes will fall down from above and one shot you.

Stay away from dust clouds as they spawn lava pools.

When he casts Crystal Barrage get behind a spike to block the barrage.

The only one in front of him at any time should be the tank.

With all the big spikes in the floor the healer will have to work hard to maintain Line of Sight on the tank and any heal targets.

How to Slabhide

Ozruk:

Ozruk, from Heroic StonecoreThe big thing about Ozruk is that he has two A of E abilities that will one-shot anyone.

Ground Slam is a cone of spikes and it will one shot the tank and anyone standing in the way of the cone. Walk through his model, or sidestep, when he casts it to avoid it.

Casts Paralysis – Shatter combo. One shots everyone in range (about 15 yards.) He will cast Paralysis and the only way to break it is through dispel Magic or damage done to you. This is where the DoT comes in for melee (see below.) As soon as your Paralysis is broken run away from him.

Casts Elementium Spike Shield. Whenever you melee him, you place a DoT on yourself. You want this. The DoT will break the Paralysis effect.

Also casts Elementium Bulwark. This reflects spells. This is spellstealable but only do so if your healer/ranged are far enough form the boss (20 – 30 yards.)

At about 20% he will enrage, which can be dispelled like any other Enrage effect.

How to Ozruk

High Priestess Azil:

High Priestess Azil, of the Heroic StonecoreCasts Gravity Well. Stay out of it.

Casts Force Grip, which should be interrupted.

Summons adds. Hide behind the Gravity Wells so that the adds have to run through them, thus killing them.

When she is on her pedestal she will throw boulders at you. These will kill you instantly. The boulder impact areas are marked by dust clouds on the ground. If you’re awesome perhaps you can lure the adds into the dust clouds to be squished. Stay away from dust clouds. More adds will spawn.

Kill boss.
