Is there Still a WoW Community?

Bumped into this via a Facebook post… MMO Melting Pot asks: Pretty much everyone who plays WoW has had the “WoW stranger” experience, right? You’re at a bar, or a cafe, or a work conference, and you’re talking about WoW. Or you’re wearing something WoW-related. Or you overhear another conversation. And the next thing you know, someone’s asked you if you play WoW, or vica versa, and you’re engaged in a long, detailed conversation about the game. … Do you think of WoW as a single community? Do you have anything in common with the people on the far side…

Restoration Shamans, the 4.3 Patch, and Raiding

WoW Insider has a new post up on the Resto Shaman and the tier 13 raiding environment. (Our Resto page is here.) Check it out: Recently we’ve had some concerns about the numbers that are being put out by restoration shaman in a raiding environment. The next tier has promised to be much more exciting for us in many ways, from the fact that we are getting new raid content to new and exciting new bosses with new mechanics to learn and work with. Today, we’re going to focus on getting ready for this new content. Shaman-friendlier content Tier 12…

Myths of Pandaria

Reading all the usual nonsense that passes for wit in the in-game chat, or the endless QQing on the forums, one might think that Mists of Pandaria was some awful wrist-cutting exercise by Blizzard and that the Pandarians might not be the most requested race in all of WoW. The LawBringer (Joystiq.com) has a nice article dispelling some of these myths. People still might not care for the Pandarians, or hate them, or whatever, but at least we can get some basic info straight. Come. Fight me. See how long you live. With the announcement of Mists of Pandaria and…

Expect tweaks to this item before it’s released and maybe after, as well. The existence of the new daggers has been known for awhile, but there’s a bit more new info, below. WoWheadNews has this in their post: Fangs of the Father: Legendary Proc Shadows of the Destroyer: Increases your Agility by 17, stacking up to 50 times. Once you have acquired 30 stacks of Shadows of the…

Mists of Pokedaria Pet Battle Information

In the new World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria, not only will you be able to play as the awesome new fat bear race Pandaren, but you will also be able to catch and train your very own Pokemon vanity pets! Mists of Pandaria Alpha version leaked screenshot You will be able to train your pets by practicing with your friends and teaching them new unique abilities and attacks. Mists of Pandaria – WoW Preview Page

As you probably know by now, Battle.net has their preview page up for Mists of Pandaria. Looks like some pretty cool stuff is coming up. One thing to keep in mind: Almost none of this should be considered final. Pandas… Bliz did a good job, in the trailer, of making the Pandarians “not silly.” My best guess for final stuff: Level 90 cap and, I’m assuming, instanced zones to level in. The goal seems to be to immerse people into the story and instanced zones are a good way to do that. The Pandarians and the introduction of new zones…

WoW Pets and Pokemon

Charmander, I choose you! Ok, so that one doesn’t look much like Charmander, still, it’s a pet and Bliz is thinking about allowing pet battles in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. From Battle.net: For years, your faithful vanity pets have accompanied you on countless adventures. They’ve provided you with comfort, company, sometimes even with entertainment and hours of fun. Maybe you only have a handful of pets you really love, or maybe you have made it your quest to capture as many of them as you can. The fact remains, heroes love their little companions… and in Mists of Pandaria,…

Mists of Pandaria is up Next

The next WoW expansion is Mists of Pandaria. Yes, you will be able to play a Panda. Keep in mind that a lot of this stuff will change between now and release. Is this a good thing? What do you think? (Update: A Mists trailer and more links to Mists info are at the bottom of this post. ) 1up says: A new race, a new class, a level cap of 90 and more on the way. Mists of Pandaria was rumored a while back to be the name of the next expansion pack for World of Warcraft. Blizzard countered…

New Look, Same GotWarcraft

You may have noticed some small changes to the home page of this site.A blog format will allow us to do a few things that we weren’t able to do with the creaky old template. Also, given the advantages of wordpress and the age of our template it seemed pointless to keep the blog on a subdomain. It’s time to get with the times! Among other things, it will allow more user interaction, faster updating, and will allow other people to add content. None of the guide pages will be going away, though they may eventually move to this blog….
