World of Warcraft Leatherworking Guide

Leatherworking is a great proffesion for classes like rogues or hunters/shamans as it allows them to make some very useful armor for themselves at the high skill levels. As you get to the 40+ armor it starts becoming more and more mail armor as opposed to leather thus helping the shamans and hunters. Dont worry though it still has a bunch of neat armor for rogues and other leather wearers.

If you are going to pick up leatherworking your also going to want to grab skinning. Leatherworking will extremely painful to skill up without the ability to skin monsters/animals. Skinnning can also make you quite a bit of money while your leveling up making it a great beginner proffesion.

Leatherworkers also have 3 specializations avalible to them, Elemental, Tribal, and Dragonscale Leatherworking.

Elemental Leatherworking

The Elemental armor is extremely useful in places like molten core as it adds some very nice resistances which are crucial to rogues/druids in those areas. A Elemental Leatherworker can be a very valuable proffesion to a guild.

The Elemental Leatherworking quest requires the following items

2 Heart of Fire
2 Breath of Wind
2 Globe of Water
2 Core of Earth

Tribal Leatherworking

Tribal leatherworking has good armor for rogues because of the devilsaur armor as well as druids as it has some nice +int/+stam items perfect for druids. Tribal leatherworking can be great to outfit rogues pre- raid gear as it has +crit and +hit.

The Tribal Leatherworking quest requires the following items

1 Wild Leather Vest
1 Wild Leather Helm

Dragonscale Leatherworking

Dragonscale armor is mail armor thus great for shamans/hunters. Lots of the Dragonscale armor has some nice fire resistance on it as well as attack power making it perfect for hunters in molten core. The dragonscale armor also has some nice pieces for shamans.

Dragonscale Leatherworking quest requires the following items

2 Tough Scorpid Breastplate
2 Tough Scorpid Gloves
10 Worn Dragonscale

Most of the special patterns for Leatherworking must be found rather then trained as your trainer may only have a couple patterns to train you in. This can be a pain but lots of the patterns are worth it.
