The Pilgrim’s Bounty Guide for WoW in Patch 5.4

pilgrims bounty

The WoW Pilgrim’s Bounty event takes place every year close to American Thanksgiving time; it runs from November 25th to December 2nd, this year (2013.) For the most part this year’s Pilgrim’s Bounty is unchanged from prior years, though I suppose that certain gear might see upgrades, much like the Headless Horseman’s drops.

What can you do in Pilgrim’s Bounty?

You can earn several achievements during the week of Pilgrim’s Bounty, one of which includes feathering a bunch of Rogues, and you can level your cooking quickly and easily,

If you prepare properly it should only take a few days to get all the Pilgrim’s Bounty Achievements. In order to complete those Achievements you will need to get a Pilgrim’s Hat, a Pilgrim chest piece, and 10 of the Turkey Shooters. You don’t need to get these right away, but you will need them to finish everything. To get these items you must complete at least 12 daily quests (one per quest.)

Here are the items you can get from daily quests:

So, you’ll need 10 Turkey Shooters, a Pilgrim’s Hat, and any one of the chest pieces (Attire, Dress, or Robe.) The Boots are optional.

You will also need to visit many of the Bountiful Tables located around Azeroth. Here are their locations:

Horde Locations

Major cities: Orgrimmar, Silvermoon City, Thunder Bluff, Undercity

Minor towns: Bloodhoof Village, Brill, Falconwing Square, Hammerfall, Razor Hill, Revantusk Village, Sepulcher, Shadowprey Village, Stonard, Tarren Mill, Tranquillien

Alliance Locations

Major cities: Darnassus, Exodar, Ironforge, Stormwind City

Minor towns: Azure Watch, Chillwind Camp, Dolanaar, Goldshire, Kharanos, Southshore, Wildhammer Keep

Neutral Locations

Minor towns: Light’s Hope Chapel, Ruins of Thaurissan

Quest and cooking recipe ingredient locations

Participating in this event and cooking these items is an excellent way of raising your cooking skill to 300 or above quickly and at low cost. The materials are inexpensive and available in practically unlimited quantities. The minimal required level starts at 1, and the recipes stay orange over a long range.

Each recipe turns yellow only 10 levels below the requirement of the next recipe. To level up your cooking from level 1, make 70 of the Spice Bread, followed by 70 of the Spice Bread Stuffing, then 70 of the Pumpkin Pie, and 65 of the other recipes (Sweet Potato, Chutney, and Turkey) in turn, learning each next recipe when it becomes available.

While you are at it, the production will be enough for the quest chain and three sets of the dailies.

Pilgrim’s Bounty Achievements

Finally, here are all the achievements you will need to get and how to get them:

  1. Sharing is Caring Pass one of each dish while at a Bountiful Table. You can do this at most major cities by just sitting down and passing the food.
  2. “FOOD FIGHT!” While sitting at a Bountiful table pass the food around to other players. Eventually, you’ll randomly miss and hit someone in the head with the food.
  3. Pilgrim’s Paunch Acquire the “Spirit of Sharing!” buff at a Bountiful Table in each of your faction’s main cities. All you need to do is sit down and eat until you are full of each food available.
  4. Pilgrim’s Peril Visit each of the opposite faction’s major cities and sit down at their Bountiful Tables while wearing the Pilgrim’s Hat and one of the Pilgrim chest pieces (Dress, Robe, or Attire.)  The tables are located outside of the cities, so you just have to get to them and have a seat. This might be more interesting on PvP servers…
  5. Leveling cooking to 429 at level 3 during Pilgrim's BountryNow We’re Cooking! You will need to buy a Bountiful Cookbook from any Pilgrim’s Bounty Vendor for 1 silver in order to complete this part. You will then need to cook each of the Pilgrim’s Bounty recipes.Using only the five recipes contained in this cookbook during Pilgrim’s Bounty you can level from 1 to 430 cooking skill. Here’s a pic of a level 3 alt with 429 skill. The Slow-Roasted Turkey recipe will go grey around 360 or so.  Keep cooking! You will get skill-ups even though the recipe is grey. Actually, you get +2 skill for each turkey until 400+, 1 per turkey till 410 or so, then it starts slowing down. It’s really slow after 425.There is no level requirement for cooking. This 429 skill is on a level 3 Warlock. Look at the HP.
  6. Pilgrim’s Progress Complete each of five Pilgrim’s Bounty daily quests, which require locating or buying the ingredients for the five Pilgrim’s Bounty dishes and making them. The ingredients required for a couple of the quests vary slightly between Horde and Alliance, but the quests are essentially the same. One of the quests – “Can’t Get Enough Turkey” – requires wild turkeys, so you can combine this with The Turkinator achievement (see below.)
  7. The Turkinator To get this one you will need to kill 40 Wild Turkeys with less than 30 seconds between each kill. You will know you’ve completed this when you get “Turkey Triumph.” You can find these Wild Turkeys in Elwynn Forest and Tirisfal Glades. This one can be difficult to get if many people on your server are also in the area attempting to complete this quest. It may help to make a macro to target the turkeys and place a raid icon over them, making them easier to find. Try this macro:
    • /target Wild Turkey
    • /script SetRaidTarget(“target”, 2);
  8. Or if you are a Hunter you can also use:
    • /target Wild Turkey
    • /cast Hunter’s Mark
  9. Turkey Lurkey For this you’ll need 10 Turkey Shooters from the daily quests (above.) You will use these to blast 10 Rogues, one Rogue from each race. Pandaren Rogues apparently do not count towards this.
  10. Terrokar Turkey Time For a level 85+ this should be no problem at all. If you are below 80 though, you might need help. You have to be at least level 55 to enter this dungeon. You will need to go to Sethekk Halls in Auchindoun located in Terokkar Forrest and kill Talon King Ikiss in Terokkar while wearing the Pilgrim’s outfit (Hat and Chest piece.) You can use the Equipment Manager pane in yoiur character “sheet” to quickly switch gear sets.
